Rickie Fowler is widely known for the support that he shows for his fellow PGA Tour players, and he gave the golf community another reminder of that admirable trait on Friday at the Genesis Scottish Open.

Fowler, who played in the morning tee-time wave and shot 67 for the second day in a row, was spotted perched on a balcony overlooking The Renaissance Club. Fowler could have been resting, sneaking in some additional practice, or even exploring the local Scottish neighborhood, but instead, he chose to watch his good friend Justin Thomas tee off on the club’s 8th hole.

TV cameras zoomed in on Fowler as he clapped for his long-time travel companion on Tour, while dressed in everyday clothes and glasses.

Shortly after begging his drive to stay in the fairway, Thomas walked off the tee box. While doing so, Thomas briefly turned off his tournament game face to look back and give Fowler a friendly wave.

Fowler and Thomas’s friendship has been well documented. They spend holidays together and share rental houses on Tour. They even attended Wimbeldon this past week along with the third member of the tight-knit squad, Jordan Spieth.

But this almost unnoticeable interaction between Fowler and Thomas told us everything we need to know about their light-hearted and long-lasting relationship.
