Rickie Fowler Delivered Heartfelt Message to Wyndham Clark After Final Putt

Fowler shared a brief moment with Clark before letting him soak in his first major victory.

Rickie Fowler has always been lauded for the steadfast support he shows for his peers on the PGA Tour, and he proved that yet again on Sunday after Wyndham Clark captured his first major at the U.S. Open

Shortly after getting emotional celebrating with his caddie, Clark shared a short embrace with Fowler, who came up five shots short with a painful final round of 75.

During the moment, Fowler appeared to share a few words with Clark before letting him fully soak in his well-deserved victory.

Later, in his post-round press conference, Fowler revealed the contents of the brief message, and it was nothing but classy.

Clark and Fowler already share a bond: Clark played two seasons of college golf at Fowler’s alma mater, Oklahoma State. Even though Clark eventually transferred to Oregon, Fowler still felt compelled to share a heartfelt message with his competitor on the 18th green.

“I told him obviously congrats and proud of him, him being a guy that was at Oklahoma State. He obviously didn't finish there. He went to Oregon to finish up, but he's still a Cowboy.

“We had a good time the last two days. I feel like we both enjoy going out and chatting throughout the round and keeping it fairly—try and keep things light, but it's still a major in the final group the last two days.

“Then yeah, the last—I went back in there and just said, your mom was with you. She'd be very proud,” Fowler said.
