Royals two-time All-Star Salvador Perez was scratched for Sunday's series finale in Boston due to some minor soreness in his right groin, but expects to return Monday when Kansas City begins a three-game road trip against the White Sox, Andy McCullough of The Kansas City Star tweeted.

The 24-year-old catcher, an All-Star in 2013 and again this year, is batting .282/.327/.432 to go with 11 home runs and 37 RBI for the Royals. The team is 48-48 and third in the AL Central heading into Saturday afternoon's game vs. the Red Sox.
