Promising rookie Byron Buxton was the hero for Minnesota on Saturday, saving the game with a diving catch of a screaming Jose Altuve liner for the final out.

Buxton preserved a 3-2 victory over Houston and bailed out reliever Kevin Jepsen, who loaded the bases with a single and pair of walks in the ninth after allowing a homer to Jed Lowrie. The crowd at Minute Maid Park thought the Astros had pulled off the comeback after Altuve caught a good piece of the ball, but Buxton had a bead on it from the start and made the play look pretty easy.

The 21-year-old Buxton has quickly become a regular for the surprising Twins, who sat just one game behind the Rangers for the final wild card spot after sealing the win. Though he's struggled at the plate since returning from a sprained thumb August 20, his defense has begun to pay dividends.
