TAKEAWAYS: Braves rally again late to take game two and win the series against the Mets

Michael Harris II had a breakout game to help the Braves secure the win

The Braves took game two 7-5 to win the series. They look for the sweep tomorrow as they send Spencer Strider to the mound.

This Braves Team Never Quits

Yet again, the Braves came through with some clutch hits tonight. In fact, the Braves scored all seven of their runs tonight with two outs. The game had a similar feel to last night, with the Mets jumping out to an early lead but the Braves rallying later in the game to bring home the win.

Scherzer was not unhittable tonight, but he did strike out several Braves hitters early in the game. The Braves kept battling and getting good at-bats to make Scherzer work. By the time they chased Scherzer in the bottom of the sixth inning, they had a 5-4 lead.

Outfield Defense Shines

The Braves had two spectacular catches from Ronald Acuña Jr. and Michael Harris II in tonight’s game.

In the top of the seventh, the Mets had the bases loaded, and Tommy Pham hit a deep fly ball to right field. Acuña Jr. made an incredible leaping catch against the wall. Brandon Nimmo scored on the sacrifice fly to tie the game, but the catch saved at least one, if not two, runs.

In the top of the eighth inning, Mark Canha crushed a ball deep to center field. MHII made an out-of-this-world, over-the-shoulder leaping catch while running full speed toward the wall. Even though his offense has struggled this season, his defense continues to shine.

Is Money Mike Back?

It is only one game, but what a game it was for Michael Harris II. He went three for four with three RBIs. He had an infield single, an RBI double, and a two-run home run that was crushed over the center field wall. This is his first three-hit game of the season.

Money Mike has struggled at the plate this season. Jake Mastroianni wrote earlier today about the struggles of MHII and the need for him to step up. Maybe Money Mike read that article because he definitely stepped up in a big way tonight.

This Braves lineup is already the most dangerous in all of baseball. If MHII can start hitting consistently in the nine-hole, it is scary how much potential this team has.
