I'm thankful the Atlanta Braves are worth cheering for.

Braves fans, it's okay to panic about the start of the postseason and I think we should be thankful for it.

This weekend, I spent some time away in Boston. You know, one of the most iconic baseball cities in our country. Other than the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox are one of the most recognizable brands in all of sports, let alone the MLB.

In October, they didn't seem to care about anything other than the worst New England Patriots team in three decades and a bunch of random college football games.

Saturday night, we had to bar hop three times until we found a sports bar that would switch a television to any baseball game. They wouldn't put it on FS1 or switch it to the ultimate goal of TBS. Eventually, I found it in time at a fantastic spot that served wine, pizza, and coffee as Spencer Strider was taking the mound.

After a few minutes, I started thinking about how strange that was. In a northeastern professional sports town, they were more interested in showing games that no one else was watching instead of a sport and a league that they have a ton of history.

As someone who has been to Fenway Park and seen the history there, the city of Boston doesn't seem to care once the Red Sox season becomes irrelevant - that was a while ago at this point as their 78-84 record earned them a spot in last place in the AL East.

A few hours later, I went to social media and looked at the numbers at Braves Today climb as Atlanta fans began to look for answers and started to panic as they saw exactly what happened a year ago despite having a historic regular season. All I could think about how nice it was that we cared. That we're still playing. That we have pride in what our team has done during the 162 games in 2023.

Next door to the place I was able to get the game on, there was a sports card shop. Atlanta's stars like Ronald Acuña Jr. and Michael Harris Jr. were priced way higher than any player that had a former Boston legend around them. Heck, a signed Dansby Swanson Braves card was priced higher than a jersey patch autographed David Ortiz and Swanson doesn't even play for Atlanta anymore.

Other markets, like Boston, have moved on. Atlanta's not ready to stop playing yet. And I'm not ready to stop watching.
