Dodgers News: Mookie Betts and Miguel Rojas Suggested Plan to Welcome Fans to Workout Days in LA

Trying to duplicate the playoff atmosphere, the Dodgers are welcoming fans to their workouts. Mookie Betts and Miguel Rojas like that idea.

The Los Angeles Dodgers don’t want a repeat of last postseason’s disaster. Having five days between the last day of the regular season and the beginning of the NLDS can be either a blessing or detrimental to the Dodgers.

During that time the team will be working out at Dodger Stadium, practicing in intrasquad games to keep the competitive mindset going. And, thanks to the suggestion of both Mookie Betts and Miguel Rojas, the team is likely going to welcome fans to the ballpark to watch the action.

“I think it intensifies it a little bit more,” Roberts said of having fans watch the workout, which will include simulated-game competition. “No player likes to be embarrassed. And so, you’re facing your teammate, but just to go up there and strike out, that’s something. It’s not everything. But I do think that the fan experience, our guys playing in front of some warm bodies for a workout, I don’t see the downside.”

Having Dodger fans in the stands might help the players’ adrenaline flow, particularly if they cheer. The exciting atmosphere at Dodger Stadium during workouts may help Bobby Miller and Ryan Pepiot become accustomed to a very loud Dodger Stadium.

The veterans love having fans at the workouts.

“Mookie and Miguel Rojas came up to me in Seattle and wanted to run some thoughts by me. I’m sure they had Freddie in the conversation and Peralta and J-Hey. They just ran it by me and I was, ‘That’s fantastic.’ To get that feedback, then there’s buy-in. So for me, it was a no-brainer.”

The Dodgers are trying to get the 5-day rest not affecting the team’s performance in the NLDS.
