Dodgers Postgame: Another Fast Start Propels Los Angeles to Second Spring Training Victory

Dodgers continue their winning ways against little brother.

The Los Angeles Dodgers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard again on Friday in their second game of spring training.

Los Angeles started hot and stayed hot against the San Diego Padres to earn their second win of spring training. Playing their first home game of the exhibition season at Camelback Ranch-Glendale, the Dodgers cruised to a 4-1 victory.

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar first baseman Freddie Freeman homered on the first pitch he saw off right-handed pitcher Jhony Brito.

Landon Knack was on the mound for the Boys in Blue, and he was spectacular.

The 26-year-old right-handed pitcher was dealing, allowing zero hits, zero home runs, and four strikeouts in two innings.

Knack was hot from the start and earned the win in his first appearance in spring training.

The Dodgers' defense did its part to keep the Padres off the scoreboard. No individual play looked better than this catch from Miguel Vargas in left field:

The Dodgers didn't explode for runs on Friday like on Thursday, but it was enough. Los Angeles added three more runs from the Freeman home run, thanks to another RBI by the former MVP.

The 34-year-old veteran was also responsible for one hit, one run, and two RBIs in two ABs.

Chris Okey and top prospect Dalton Rushing were responsible for the two other RBIs in the game. Rushing hit a sacrifice fly to center in the second to bring home Miguel Vargas.

Okey singled to left in the seventh inning to bring home infielder Kevin Padlo. The Dodger pitchers were on another level.

Eight Dodger pitchers allowed only three hits, one earned run, and struck out nine — effectively picking up where they left off in Thursday's 14-1 win over the Padres

Saturday, the Dodgers will look to keep that momentum going against their Interstate 5 rivals, the Los Angeles Angels.
