In this story:

Dodgers shortstop Gavin Lux will be making his return to the field this season after he missed all of 2023 due to a torn ACL. He suffered the injury during spring training but has attacked his rehab process to get himself ready to go for Opening Day.

Seeing Lux take the field this season will be a welcome sight for the organization and fanbase who has supported him throughout. He made an impact on this team quickly, and will now be given the keys to the position.

Lux spoke with SportsNet LA recently and discussed his level of comfortability playing shortstop this season.

“Totally comfortable,” Lux said. “I took so many game reps and reps growing up playing shortstop. That’s all I ever really played.”

He is expected to be the everyday shortstop for the Dodgers this season, and the organization couldn't be more excited. They have been high on the upside of Lux for some time now, and they want to see how he can produce over a full season.

The former top prospect is looking forward to proving people wrong, and showing that he belongs at shortstop. He has waited patiently for this chance and will be looking to make the most of it.

“It was a tough adjustment going on the other side of second base. A lot of people just say, ‘Oh, if you can play short you can play second.’ And it might be true for some people, but for me it was a little bit of an adjustment that took a while to get used to. So, I think it’s almost gonna be a little bit of a breath of fresh air just to be back on the other side. That’s what I grew up playing and that’s what I love playing the most.”

If Lux can remain healthy this season, it will be a huge win for the Dodgers. His development is crucial this season, but there also will be an emphasis on allowing him to ease back into everything to avoid another injury.
