Los Angeles Lakers superstar point guard Luka Doncic showed some love to the Los Angeles Dodgers after their second World Series championship in as many years, sporting a Dodgers World Series championship Saturday.

The Dodgers had a strong run through the postseason, winning all of their road games until the World Series, and emerged victorious in a closely-contested Fall Classic against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Dodgers overcame all odds in the final game of the series, coming back from a 3-0 deficit to take a 5-4 win in extra innings.

Doncic arrived in Los Angeles in February after spending the first six and a half seasons of his career with the Dallas Mavericks. The trade which brought Doncic to the Lakers brought national attention to LA, who immediately entered championship conversation with their huge addition.

With the Mavs, Doncic established himself as one of the league's best players, with several top-5 MVP finishes and five All-NBA First Team selections.

The 26-year-old guard currently leads the NBA with 34.6 points per game through his 11 games this season, and has been the Lakers' most important player in the young 2025-26 season.

Doncic's nod to the Dodgers is the latest piece of unity between the two teams, as they have grown increasingly closer over the last few days. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman took on an advisory role with the Lakers

“Friedman, the president of baseball operations with the Dodgers, has played a lesser role. He mostly consults with Lakers president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka, sources said,” ESPN's Ramona Shelburne wrote. “Friedman has helped the Dodgers win three of the past six World Series.

“Both the Lakers and Dodgers are expected to become part of TWG Sports, the entity Walter created to oversee all his sports holdings. As such, Zaidi and Friedman are acting as senior executives of TWG Sports, which is helping with the Lakers after the sale of the team closed last month.”

The Dodgers have had plenty of success since Friedman took control over a decade ago, and the Lakers will hope Mark Walter's $10 billion purchase of the storied franchise can get them back to the top.
