It's pretty rare that fans see a benches-clearing brawl with some real punches being thrown by players. But when Tim Anderson dropped his glove and put up his fists with Jose Ramirez doing the same, we all knew there was some real hostility between one another.

Both players swung at each other, but Anderson took the worst of it after getting knocked to the ground by a right hook from Ramirez. The benches and bullpens cleared and other skirmishes popped up during the 15-minute delay in the game.

Every fan in the stands at Progressive Field, watching at home, and around baseball knew that there were going to be suspensions handed out after the fight and that's exactly what happened.

MLB revealed who had been disciplined on Monday afternoon and this is how it shake out:

Cleveland Guardians Suspensions

  • Jose Ramirez - 3-game (will appeal)
  • Emmanuel Clase - 1-game (will serve Monday night)
  • Terry Francona - 1-game (will serve Monday night)
  • Mike Sarbaugh - 1-game (will serve Tuesday night)

Chicago White Sox Suspensions

  • Tim Anderson - 6 games
  • Pedro Grifol - 1-game

Cleveland's Gabriel Arias and Chicago's Michael Kopech will not be suspended, but they have been fined an undisclosed amount for their role in the brawl.

The Guardians will miss Ramirez while he is out of the lineup. Cleveland is still in a position where they could win the AL Central, but being without their best player for - games during a difficult part of their schedule isn't ideal.

However, Jose's teammates came to his defense while on the field and on social media which could light a much-needed spark in the clubhouse.
