1. Jose Ramirez snapping out of his slump

Ramirez has arguably been the best player in the American League this season, but has been slumping the last seven games. The All-Star is only batting .160 in the last seven days (4 for 25). If the Indians are going to challenge Houston or Oakland for home field advantage they’re going to need Ramirez to pick his play back up to where it’s been most of the season. He’s been a consistent power hitter, run producer and base stealer all year and he’ll need to get it going again before the playoffs arrive.

2. Kluber goes for win 17

Corey Kluber has had another stellar season and is looking for his 17th win of the season. The Cy Young contender is currently on pace to get 200-plus strikeouts for the fifth year in a row and could put himself in good position to eclipse the 18-win mark. He has never had more than 18 wins in a season, but has hit that total three times in his career. The Indians ace may be on his way to be the first Indians 20 -ame winner since Cliff Lee in 2008 (22-3).

3. Back to dominating

The Indians lost last night's 5-4 contest in heartbreaking fashion after Cody Allen gave up back-to-back home runs in the ninth inning. The Tribe will look to get back on track after losing the last three. They have taken advantage of a weak division this season and will hope to get back on track in game two against the Royals. There aren’t too many teams you’d like to see during a losing streak but the Royals are one of them. Expect them to bounce back tonight.
