The Cleveland Guardians' biggest need this offseason isn't a secret to anyone. They need to address their lackluster offensive contribution from the outfield. Cleveland is unlikely to be a player with any of the remaining big-named outfield free agents, but that doesn't mean they still can't improve.

Cleveland has plenty of trade assets whether that be starting pitching or prospects they could finally use to upgrade their lineup. Here are three players the Guardians should look to trade for before the 2024 season.

Christopher Morel - Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs are looking to upgrade their roster heading into next season. One player who they could use to do this is Christopher Morel and that should perk the ears of Cleveland.

Morel just wrapped up his sophomore season in the Big Leagues. He's posted a slash line of .241/.311/.471 with an OPS of .781 through those first two seasons proving to be a solid offensive player. Plugging Morel into center field or right field would certainly be an upgrade over what the Guardians have right now.

Acquiring Morel would take a pitcher such as Shane Bieber, Emmanuel Clase, or maybe even more, but theirs a strong argument to make that it'd be worth it.

Mickey Moniak - Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels franchise needs to look to the future after losing Shohei Ohtani in free agency. One player who's drawing interest is Mickey Moniak, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Moniak was the first overall pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016 but never panned out in the City of Brotherly Love. He did find himself in LA and finished the 2023 season with a .280 AVG and .802 OPS.

Cleveland has plenty of prospects to offer the Angels as they look to rebuild and Moniak would give the Guardians the immediate outfield help they need.

Dylan Carlson - St. Louis Cardinals

The best course of action for the Guardians may be to buy low on a struggling outfielder and hope they blossom in a new scenery. Someone such as Dylan Carlson of the St. Louis Cardinals would fit this mold.

Carlson put together a solid 2021 season finishing with a .266 AVG and a .780 OPS. However, he's never been able to replicate that as his numbers have dropped in the last two seasons.

The center fielder is still 25 years old and his .651 OPS from the the 2023 season would still be an upgrade over what Cleveland had in their outfield last year. It wouldn't hurt to take a chance on him if the Cardinals would be willing to trade him.
