Bleacher Report Finds Trade Destinations for Two Marlins Stars

The Miami Marlins have had such a poor start that we're already looking at potential trades

The Miami Marlins are off to a shaky start in 2024 and could see some major changes coming their way.

Bleacher Report took the opportunity to analyze some potential trades for top Marlins players that could be on their way out.

The first player that was listed by the proposal was second baseman Luis Arraez.

Arraez, 27, could draw interest from teams looking to improve their offense. The two-time silver slugger has made a living off of his high batting average numbers throughout his career. It could be time to cash in on the success he had last season and get some prospects in return.

The proposed landing spots were the Minnesota Twins, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners. The reasoning behind these spots is that they are teams that need some help either at second base or in a leadoff spot (or both).

The best prospect that the Marlins could land based on the Bleacher Report suggestions would be catcher Harry Ford, the Mariners No. 2 prospect and No. 37 in Major League Baseball.

The best package would be from the Twins as they get two top-100 outfielders in that projection. The No. 3 player in the Twins system Emmanuel Rodriguez and No. 4 Gabriel Gonzalez.

If the Marlins would be able to land multiple top prospects for Arraez, it would be hard to pass up. It would be a smart move to cash in, especially after a slow start to the season for Arraez.

The other Marlins player that they looked at was starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo.

Luzardo is the best pitcher in the Marlins system and would be considered a movable piece in the reimagining of the roster. He could drive a high asking price as a 26-year old pitcher with a high strikeout rate.

His proposed landing sports were the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles, the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The best overall prospect that the Marlins could be getting from a Luzardo trade would be Ethan Salas from the Padres. Salas is San Diego's top prospect and is No. 8 on the MLB Pipeline, but was the only player listed in the potential trade.

If the Marlins were looking for a package with more players in it, they could look towards the Chicago Cubs.

Bleacher Report has the Cubs sending outfielders Owen Caissie and Kevin Alcántara along with infielder Matt Shaw. Those are three of the Cubs’ top six prospects and are all in the 40-60 range in the MLB Pipeline.

The Marlins roster could be shaken up soon, but the farm system could look a lot more promising in return.
