Lineup and How to Watch the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals from Busch Stadium

The Miami Marlins are still trying to get in the win column and it only gets harder from here.

Things are about to get much harder for the Miami Marlins.

After an 0-7 start following two home series against teams with poor finishes last season in the Pittsburgh Pirates (76-86) and Los Angeles Angels (73-89), Miami’s getting some much tougher tests going forward.

The first of those comes today, as the Marlins head to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals, who struggled last season (71-91) but actually went out and spent money to address their deficiencies, signing Cy Young runner-up Sonny Gray, fellow starting pitchers Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson, and shortstop Brandon Crawford.

Miami’s hopeful to get in the win column here, as they head to New York to take on the first place (!) Yankees after this series concludes.

Lineups for the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, April 4th

Here's how the Marlins will line up for the contest:

2B Luis Arraez
1B Josh Bell
3B Jake Burger
CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.
DH Bryan De La Cruz
RF Jesús Sánchez
SS Tim Anderson
LF Nick Gordon
C Christian Bethancourt

Starting for the Marlins is lefty Ryan Weathers. He had an abbreviated debut against Pittsburgh last week, going four innings with three runs on seven hits and taking 94 pitches (60 strikes) to do it. Weathers has pitched twice against the Cardinals in his career, going five total innings with two runs on four hits and striking out one. Not a lot of St. Louis hitters have a track record against Weathers; Nolan Arenado is 1-2 with a homer and two RBIs, while catcher Willson Contreras is 3-9 with a homer and two RBIs.

Here's how the Cardinals will line up to open the series:

CF Victor Scott II
1B Paul Goldschmidt
3B Nolan Arenado
C Ivan Herrera
2B Nolan Gorman
RF Jordan Walker
DH Alec Burleson
SS Masyn Winn
LF Nick Siani

Starting for the Cardinals is veteran Lance Lynn. Signed to give St. Louis MLB-caliber innings this year, he’s done more than that - his debut against the Dodgers in Los Angeles saw him go four scoreless innings, walking one and allowing four hits but striking out five as the Cardinals knocked off the Dodgers 6-5. Tim Anderson (.353, 1 HR, 5 RBIs in 17 ABs) and Luis Arraez (.320, 1 HR, 2 RBIs in 25 ABs) have long track records against Lynn, while Jazz Chisholm Jr. (2-3, HR, 3 RBIs) has been successful against the righty in a limited sample.
