Marlins Set to Get Key Slugger Back from Injury at Crucial Time

The Miami Marlins are coming off of a great home weekend where they just swept their division rival Washington Nationals and now sit at 67-64 going into a new week.
They also are getting good news as one of their best hitters is set to return from the injured list.
The Marlins are getting Kyle Stowers back from injury, per Issac Azout of Fish on First, and it comes at a time where they can add his power back to the lineup as the calendar wraps up August. The Marlins lineup did the best they could without him, especially this past weekend, and seemingly did enough of a good job.
Stowers is a guy that the Fish have relied on for power and pop in the lineup and manager Clayton McCullough is definitely ecstatic to have him coming back. It was projected to be a longer injured stint for Stowers, but he is back ahead of schedule.
Coming back ahead of schedule definitely puts the risk out there that he can re-injure himself and be done for the season. But clearly Stowers is testing his limits and coming back with his teams 3.5 games back of the last wildcard spot in the National League.
Heriberto Hernandez helped hold the fort down in Stowers' place
Heriberto Hernandez is a player that has truly shined for the Fish this season and being in the lineup and mashing like he has, has been a welcome sight for the Fish. He has been mashing homers and base hits left and right, it is like Stowers was never injured.
The young slugger currently has 19 home runs and 53 runs batted in after Sunday's game and is having quite the season after getting into 87 games last season. Hernandez is a player that seems like he is going to be a major part of the Marlins future.
This is a player that can really put the bat to the ball and hit the ball over the wall any time he comes to the plate. He only mashed 10 home runs last season in a small sample size and the fact that he is one home run away from 20 this season speaks to the improvement he has shown.
And being able to do all of this and add Stowers back to the lineup in this crucial stretch is huge for the Marlins. They may not make the playoffs but Hernandez and Stowers as the mashers of this lineup is absolutely huge.
