The New York Mets are out to even up their record for the 2024 season when they host the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.

The New York Mets didn’t get the win they wanted on Opening Day at Citi Field, so they’ll take another shot on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Starling Marte drove in the Mets’ only run on Opening Day, a solo home run in a 3-1 loss to the Brewers. The game was supposed to be on Thursday, but heavy rain on the east coast prompted the team and the league to move the game to the scheduled off-day on Friday.

In fact, Marte had the Mets’ only hit against Brewers starter Freddy Peralta and the Brewers’ bullpen, which struck out 10 Mets and walked just two.

The Mets also honored franchise icon Bud Harrelson on Friday, a member of their 1969 World Series team and who later served as a coach and manager of the team.  

The loss spoiled the debut of new manager Carlos Mendoza and new president of baseball operations David Stearns.
