MLB Network Ranks Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer as top 5 Starters

In this story:
On Wednesday night, MLB Network carried on their series of ranking the top 10 players at every position by doing the top 10 starting pitchers in baseball.
On this list, were two Mets starters, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer, who ranked in the top five.
Verlander, the 2022 American League Cy Young Award winner, came in at No.2, while Scherzer ranked No. 4 on this list.
Although Scherzer dealt with an oblique injury in 2022, he still started 23 games at 38-years-old, posting a 2.23 ERA, 169 ERA+ and 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
As for Verlander, he dominated in his age-39 season, leading MLB with a 1.75 ERA, 220 ERA+ and 0.829 WHIP. He also led baseball with 18 wins.
Among former Mets in the top 10, Jacob deGrom was ranked No. 9 and Zack Wheeler was one notch ahead of him at No. 8. DeGrom went 5-4 with a 3.08 ERA, a 0.75 WHIP and 102 strikeouts in 64.1 innings across 11 starts for the Mets last season after missing the first four months with a shoulder injury.
