Justin Verlander Passes big Test in Rehab Start

He looked sharp.

Mets ace Justin Verlander made his rehab start for Double-A Binghamton on Friday and looked good in the process.

Verlander threw 4.2 innings on 69 pitches, allowing just two hits, one walk and struck out six batters.

"I feel good; no issues physically," Verlander said after his start. "(I) should be ready to go whenever they say I'm ready to pitch."

Barring any discomfort in the next few days, Verlander will make his next start with the Mets next week in Detroit against his former team in the Tigers.

Verlander has been on the IL since Opening Day with a teres major strain. According to the three-time Cy Young Award winner, this pain has subsided and he is good to go.

The Mets signed Verlander to a two-year, $86 million deal in the offseason. He has yet to make his debut with the team due to his injury, but it appears that will change in the coming days.

The Mets have also been without Max Scherzer due to a 10-game suspension for using sticky substances. Scherzer will likely return to the mound prior to Verlander's first start in Detroit.
