This is not a drill.

The Mets are calling up top prospect third baseman Brett Baty to the major league roster.

SNY's Andy Martino was the first to report this news.

Baty will join the Mets on Monday in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium, as the team gets set to kick off a three-game series with the Dodgers. The corresponding move to free up a roster spot has yet to be announced.

Baty had a torrid Spring Training at the plate, but the Mets sent him down to Triple-A Syracuse to work on his defense.

However, after a blistering hot start offensively in Triple-A, and improved defense at third base, Baty has now earned a promotion to the big-leagues.

In 35 at-bats for Syracuse this season, Baty had 14 hits (.400), a .500 on-base percentage, a 1.386 OPS, five home runs and 15 RBIs.

Mets GM Billy Eppler went to watch Baty and Syracuse in person on Thursday night, and was clearly impressed with what he saw from the 23-year-old.

Now, Baty will likely slot in as the every day third baseman over struggling veteran Eduardo Escobar.

Baty was a first-round pick of the Mets in the 2019 MLB Draft. He is the No. 2 ranked prospect in the organization's farm system.

Baty already has some major league experience under his belt, making his big-league debut in August of last season. He went 7-for-35 with two home runs before a torn UCL in his thumb ended his season prematurely.

He will now get another shot at showing he can be an every day player, and potential star, in the major leagues.
