PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates are bringing up Konnor Griffin to the major leagues and the fanbase is ready to see him finally don the black and gold.

The home opener for the Pirates on April 3 vs. the Baltimore Orioles at PNC Park is sold out on the Pirates website, with no single game tickets remaining. The cheapest tickets on SeatGeek are $193 and $215 on StubHub, both ticket reselling sites.

It's the most expensive MLB game on April 3, with the next closest price on SeatGeek is $137 at Fenway Park, where the Boston Red Sox will host the San Diego Padres, according to their blog. Tickets also jumped up from $78 on SeatGeek to more than $115, a 247% increase.

Pirates fans have also started buying tickets for the next two games against the Orioles, as SeatGeek's cheapest resale prices are $50 on April 4 and $30 on April 5.

If the Pirates can win these games and Griffin gets off to a good start, then fans will continue to pile into PNC Park all season long.

Home Opener Even Bigger Than Year's Past

The home opener is one of, if not the most, attended Pirates games at PNC Park in any given season.

Pittsburgh has had their home opener as the third-most attended game the past two seasons in 2024 and 2025 and also in 2022, plus the most attended game in 2023.

The Pirates have high hopes for their 2026 season and the additions in the offseason, a great pitching staff and Griffin making his debut will result in one of the most impressive atmospheres at PNC Park in quite some time.

It will also likely serve as a great contrast to the 2025 home opener, when the Pirates were 2-5, fans booed manager Derek Shelton and the team, a fan group flew a plane demanding Bob Nutting sell the team and fans accosted at Nutting as he walked up the left field rotunda.

The Pirates are 3-3, with three wins in their past four games and two straight wins to take the series over divisional rival in the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.

Pittsburgh signed free agents like sluggers in Ryan O'Hearn and Marcell Ozuna and left-handed pitcher Gregory Soto, plus traded for second baseman Brandon Lowe, outfielder Jake Mangum and left-handed pitcher Mason Mongtomery this offseason.

Those additions coupled with outfielders in Oneil Cruz and Bryan Reynolds combining for five home runs, plus a pitching staff that has given up just 12 earned runs over the past five games for a 2.35 ERA makes for a team that could end a decade-long postseason drought.
