In this story:
Spring Training is here for the Boston Red Sox and the organization reportedly made a move on Thursday to add yet another hurler.
Andrew Parker of Baseball Now reported that Boston signed 6'7'' right-handed hurler Harrison Blum to a minor league deal and that he's projected to kick off his professional career down with the Low-A Salem RidgeYaks in 2026.

"With the random small signing of the day, a source told me the Red Sox signed pitcher Harrison Blum to a minor league contract," Parker wrote. "Blum finished his college career last year at Augustana College and is listed at 6'7 240 pounds, which is exactly what the organization values. Blum is projected to start the season in Low-A Salem."
The Red Sox made another intriguing move

Blum may not be a big-name hurler fans have heard of already, but this yet another intriguing move by the organization. Boston has prioritized bringing in tall hurlers with good extension. Blum fits that mold. He's listed at 6'7'' and 240 pounds and logged a 3.81 career ERA in college across 63 total appearances, including 37 starts. He finished his college career at Augustana College in 2025 and had a 4.72 ERA and a 48-to-21 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 47 2/3 innings pitched.
This is the type of move that may not sound like much right now, but Boston has shown under Craig Breslow that the organization can develop pitching. You can't teach height. Plus, this is a guy who just recently averaged 97.5 miles per hour on his fastball at a Pro Day.

So, the Red Sox are getting a guy with good height and some power on his fastball. If they can mold him down in the minors, maybe this is a guy we could see out of the bullpen at some point over the next few years. This may not sound like much, but maybe one day he'll be taking the field at Fenway Park. Plus, it's very difficult to go wrong with minor league deals.
