Dolphins ink McCown to contract

According to league sources, the Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement with free-agent quarterback Josh McCown on a multi-year contract.

The financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal is believed to be worth more than the three-year, $9 million deal signed by Todd Collins to remain with the Redskins.

McCown, a six-year veteran with 31 career starts, gives new Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano a mobile quarterback with significant game experience at the position.

In nine games with Oakland last season, McCown threw for 1,151 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Miami will be the fourth stop for the six-year veteran, who has started his NFL career with the Cardinals before playing for the Lions and Raiders for a season each.
