Long Beach, N.Y., native Balaram Stack is the first New Yorker to have a chance to make the pro surfing tour in more than 30 years. Generally recognized as the best surfer ever to have come from Long Island, the 20-year-old Stack is competing in the Quiksilver Pro New York -- the ASP World Tour's first-ever East Coast stop -- which runs through September 15.
