Houston helped welcome the Olympic flag to the Georgia Dome after the 1992 Barcelona Olympics ended. Georgia Olympians (right) joined Houston, along with President George H. W. Bush (left), James Brown, Dick Clark and Carlos Santana. Houston recorded "One Moment in Time" for NBC's coverage of the 1988 Seoul Games.

Joined by Pele, Houston performed at the closing ceremonies of the World Cup at the Rose Bowl.

Houston presented an award to Muhammad Ali at Radio City Music Hall. Houston's "The Greatest Love of All" was written for Ali's 1977 biopic, The Greatest.

Also at Radio City Music Hall, Houston sang "America The Beautiful" before a fight between Roy Jones Jr. and David Telesco, the first night of fights at the New York landmark.
