After posting an NBA-best 66 wins and running off a 27-game winning streak, the Heat have solidified their position as the overwhelming favorite to win the 2013 title, according to one oddsmaking service.
After opening the preseason as 11-5 favorites to defend their 2012 title, LeBron James and company are now listed at 2-3 by Bovada.LV. The Western Conference champion Thunder, who opened at 9-2, have improved to 17-4 after winning 60 games. The Spurs (10-1), Knicks (16-1), Nuggets (25-1), Pacers (25-1) and Clippers (25-1) round out the current favorites.
The Lakers, who opened the preseason at 5-2, have dropped to 40-1 after squeezing into the postseason on the last night of the regular season with a record of 45-37 and losing Kobe Bryant to a season-ending Achilles injury.
Miami will begin its title defense in an Eastern Conference first-round playoff series with Milwaukee that begins on Sunday. The Bucks happen to be the longest shot among the current playoff teams to win the title, listed at 500-1.
