John Wall, Bradley Beal and Paul Millsap were the first players cut by USA Basketball Monday, reports Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Millsap and Wall were late additions to the team.

The cuts, along with Paul George's traumatic leg injury, leave Team USA with 16 players and 12 roster spots. The team's official roster needs to be turned in by Aug. 29, but the team leaves for Spain on Aug. 23.

With Washington Wizards guards Wall and Beal gone, USA backcourt candidates now consist of Stephen Curry, Derrick Rose, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson and DeMar DeRozan.

More: Indy could be in a world of hurt without George

The remaining wings are Kevin Durant, Kyle Korver, Chandler Parsons and Gordon Hayward

And with Millsap gone, the big man spots are going to come down to Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried and Mason Plumlee. Last week, ESPN reported that it was "likely" that Plumlee would make the team over Cousins.

Team USA will play an exhibition game against Brazil at the United Center in Chicago on Aug. 16, followed by games against the Dominican Republic on Aug. 20 and Puerto Rico on Aug. 22, both at Madison Square Garden in New York.
