Free agent center Greg Oden was arrested Thursday on two preliminary charges of misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching a woman, reports WTHR.com.

According to the report, Oden was taken into custody in Lawrence, Ind., at 5 a.m. Thursday morning. Oden starred at Lawrence North High School before playing one college season at Ohio State.

Oden played last season with the Miami Heat, averaging 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 23 regular games last season. According to USA Today, officers arrived at a home and found the victim crying and holding her face.

USA Today has more information on the incident:

"He punched her in the face," the witness said, according to the report.

The victim initially was "uncooperative," police said. Police "observed blood, swelling to the nose, lacerations to the forehead and nose area of the victim's face," according to the report. They also "observed blood on the sofa and floor in the sitting area. (They) observed (blood) on the living room carpet (and) dirt from a flower pot that was knocked over.

Oden, 26, was the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, but soon knee injuries derailed his career. He did not play at all during the 2010-11, 2011-12, or 2012-13 seasons because of knee issues.

The Los Angeles Clippers were reportedly bringing in Oden for a workout this offseason.
