In defeating the Houston Rockets in Wednesday's Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, the Golden State Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals to play the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Game 1 of the finals is scheduled for June 4 at Golden State, which secured the NBA's best regular-season record at 67–15. The Cavaliers had the seventh-best record at 53–29.
The Warriors defeated the Rockets in five games, continuing a playoff run that saw them sweep the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round before defeating the Memphis Grizzlies in six games in the Western Conference semifinals.
The Cavaliers swept the Boston Celtics in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs before defeating the Chicago Bulls in six games in the semifinals and sweeping the Atlanta Hawks in the conference finals.
