Michael Kidd-Gilchrist suffers dislocated right shoulder during game

Charlotte Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist left Saturday’s preseason road game against the Orlando Magic with a dislocated right shoulder, the team announced.

Kidd-Gilchrist left the game in the second quarter. He was coming off a screen when he absorbed a foul and fell to the ground. Kidd-Gilchrist was holding his right shoulder before being helped to the locker room.

Basketball Insiders reporter Mary Stevens said Kidd-Gilchrist was eventually taken out of the locker room on a stretcher. The Hornets confirmed the forward was taken to a local hospital for X-rays, which came back negative. He will be further evaluated on Monday in Charlotte and an update would be provided when available, the Hornets announced.

Kidd-Gilchrist signed a four-year, $52 million extension with Charlotte in August. The former No. 2 overall pick played in 55 games last season, averaging a career-high 10.9 points per game.
