Story: The Adidas press material is clear, the “zombie brain pattern” is a real thing. For the Ballin’ Dead Halloween collection, Adidas created glow-in-the-dark outsoles, oozing slime and a zombie brain pattern for use across the D Rose 6, Crazy 8 and D Lillard 1. The Rose model has a reflective zombie brain, glow-in-the-dark outsole and pink and purple for a “haunting look.” The Crazy 8 went all pink on the upper with a zombie print overlay. Slime green, purple and a “Night of the Ballin’ Dead” help round out this classic silhouette in a not-so-classic colorway. The Lillard shoe uses slime green from heel to toe, a bit of pink splatter, pink laces, purple accents and reflective brains with a glow-in-the-dark midsole. Lillard event offered a Halloween-inspired lyric in the sockliner:
October 31st… the zombies coming out the dirt
Face mask cover skins the same way it covers hurt
A disguise for the day, be someone else for what it’s worth
A time to be who you would like for once on God’s green earth
