Watch: Hornets beat Kings in OT after wild finish with Kemba Walker’s layup
Kemba Walker and Rudy Gay hit big shots to send Monday’s Hornets-Kings game into overtime. Then Walker’s teammates helped put the game away in the extra frame with a 127–122 win.
The Hornets needed a huge comeback to force the extra five minutes. Charlotte entered the fourth quarter trailing by 17 points. That’s when Walker went to work, including a clutch layup, which set off a wild sequence.
First, Walker hit a layup with less than a second to go to give Charlotte a 112–110 lead. The former Connecticut star used a high screen, drove to the hoop and made an off-balance layup in traffic.

With Charlotte looking poised to win, Gay answered with a buzzer beater to send the game into overtime. Using a sideline lob from Rajon Rondo, Gay fought Marvin Williams for the ball, jumping over the defender and knocking home a short shot to extend the game.
Then in overtime, Frank Kaminsky hit a three to open the scoring, with Jeremy Lin scoring the Hornets’ next seven points to give the team enough cushion to seal the win. Charlotte finished the game on a 34–15 run and held Sacramento without a fourth-quarter field goal for six-plus minutes.
The Hornets improved to 8–6 while the Kings fell to 5–10. Charlotte has won three straight games.
