The Denver Nuggets plan on buying out the contract of forward J.J. Hickson, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.

Hickson is in the final season of a three-year, $15 million contract. He was owed $5.6 million this season.

The 27-year-old is averaging 6.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in just 20 games this season.

Hickson had been the subject of trade rumors approaching the deadline, although the Nuggets only moved guard Randy Foye.
