Klay Thompson: ‘We’re better than the Showtime Lakers’

Klay Thompson says this year’s Golden State Warriors are better than the Showtime Lakers.
Meeting with the media following a 110–77 win in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Draymond Green was asked whether or not the Warriors were one of the best teams of alltime. He then questioned whether or not you could ever compare Golden State to a team from a previous era.
“I think it’s all subjective,” Green said. “To say we’re better than the Showtime Lakers, how can you say that? We never played them.”

Klay then jumped in, and said that his team was, in fact, better than that Lakers team, which included his father Mychal on its roster.
“We are better than the Showtime Lakers,” he said. The room chuckled.

Mychal Thompson played with the Lakers from 1987–91, winning two championships with them. From 1980–88, Los Angeles won a total of five rings.

Golden State is seeking its second championship in as many years, which would give Klay as many as his father.
