Candace Parker to Become First Woman to Call NBA All-Star Game

Candace Parker will add another item to her list of accomplishments when she becomes the first woman to serve as an analyst for the NBA All-Star game on Feb. 19 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City.

Parker, who has worked with Turner Sports since 2018, regularly appears on Inside the NBA with Adam Lefkoe, Naismith Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal and former NBA star Jamal Crawford. The two-time WNBA champion will be joined on the broadcast team with play-by-play announcer Brian Anderson.

While Parker will pair up with Anderson, Warriors forward Draymond Green will join O'Neal, Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith on Inside the All-Star Game in a separate broadcast on TBS. The 36-year-old recently told Sports Illustrated’s Howard Beck that she was in awe of the opportunity to call the game, one that she has enjoyed since her childhood.

“I’m a fan, first and foremost, of the NBA and especially the All-Star Game,” Parker told Beck. “And so I think the fan of the game, and the childhood Candace is—I have to pinch myself to believe that I’m doing it, and that I’m able to have a courtside seat to see the best players in the world.”

The latest news concerning Parker comes 10 days after the seven-time All-Star announced that she was taking her talents to Las Vegas to play for the defending WNBA champion Aces in the 2023 season. 

In addition to crossing another milestone moment off her list, Parker was the first woman to sit as the cover athlete of the WNBA 25th Anniversary Edition of the popular NBA 2K22 video game.
