Top Prospect Scoot Henderson Shut Down for Rest of G League Season, per Report

Scoot Henderson, the point guard for the G League Ignite and projected top prospect in the draft, will be shut down for the rest of the season, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reports. Henderson already missed Ignite’s most recent game vs. the Texas Legends.

In 2021, Henderson signed a two-year deal to join the G League instead of playing for a college to prepare for the NBA. He was a top 10 high school prospect when he made his decision, knowing that he would not be eligible to enter the NBA until this year.

After playing in 10 games last year, he played in 19 for the Ignite this season and has averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 assists and 5.4 rebounds in 30.7 minutes per game.

Henderson entered this season as one of the top prospects for the 2023 NBA draft, behind just Victor Wembanyama for the top spot. Since the Ignite are 11–16 on the season and four games back from a playoff spot with five games remaining, Henderson will begin preparing for the draft instead of finishing the season.
