A shooting in Denver left nine people injured, including three critically, following the Nuggets’ first NBA championship Monday, police told ABC News.

The shooting occurred near the 2000 block of Market Street, about one mile away from Ball Arena. The suspect, who is in custody, was also shot. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, according to the report.

“This is a complex, ongoing investigation in its early stages,” Denver police told ABC News. “Preliminary info indicates multiple shots were fired during an altercation involving several individuals.”

Police said that many fans had left the area before the shooting began, but there was still a small crowd at the time of the shooting.
