Suns Sign Bol Bol, Strike Trades With Spurs, Magic, per Reports

The Suns are freeing up money, addressing key areas of need and attempting to replenish their cache of draft picks as they continue to make offseason moves.

Following the blockbuster trade to acquire Bradley Beal from the Wizards, it appeared Phoenix would have a fairly quiet remainder of the offseason. But that hasn’t been the case.

The Suns agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent big man Bol Bol on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Additionally, Phoenix traded combo guard Cameron Payne, a second-round pick and cash to the Spurs in exchange for a future second-round pick, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. Finally, the Suns acquired a trio of second-round picks from the Magic in exchange for a future pick swap, according to Charania.

The Payne move is noteworthy for the financial relief it provides Phoenix. The Suns are set to save around $15 million in luxury tax payments by trading Payne to the Spurs, per NBA reporter Evan Sidery. The move also freed up the roster spot for Bol.
