Austin Reaves Was Hyped Up About Lakers Giving Anthony Davis Big Contract Extension

Lakers star big man Anthony Davis inked a three-year, $186 million max contract extension earlier this week, which will pay him $270 million guaranteed over the life of his full deal through the 2028 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Davis is not the first member of the Lakers rotation to get paid this offseason, as teammate Austin Reaves signed a four-year, $56 million contract to return to Los Angeles after emerging as a core member of the rotation last season.

How did Reaves react to Davis’s huge deal? Safe to say he was elated.

“Sign it! You got to, he’s Anthony Davis!” Reaves told HoopsHype. “He’s got an incredible IQ to the game. He’s a joy to play with and a joy to be around, so as long as I can be around him for my career, the better I’ll be for it,” Reaves said.

Reaves certainly benefits on the wing from playing alongside Davis in the post, and of course, LeBron James.

In just his second season in the league last season, Reaves excelled in his 64 games. He averaged a career-high 13.0 points per game to go along with 3.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists, while shooting a sizzling 52.9% from the floor and nearly 40% from three.

Reaves has emerged as an important player in the Los Angeles rotation whose best is yet to come, and now he’ll be able to do it alongside his friend and teammate in Davis, who is locked in for the remainder of his prime with the Lakers.
