Kyrie Irving to Lakers Trade Rumors Are ‘Going to Pop Up Again,’ Says Insider

It appears the trade chatter surrounding a potential reunion for Kyrie Irving and LeBron James will live on for at least one more season. When discussing potential trade targets for the Lakers, Irving wasn’t the primary focus, but he was the first name mentioned by The Athletic’s Jovan Buha.

“In terms of guys they’re looking at, I think the Kyrie rumor is going to pop up again come trade deadline. … That probably looks like D-Lo, Rui and a pick for Kyrie. I don’t see why Dallas does that right now unless they start struggling,” Buha told Jason Timpf of Hoops Tonight.

Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving has been a common name linked in trade rumors with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving has been a popular rumored Los Angeles Lakers trade target since last season.

Irving, who played with James on the Cavaliers, was linked to the Lakers as a potential trade target throughout much of the 2022 NBA offseason and up to the trade deadline as well.

The guard has averaged 22.3 points, 6.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 46% from the field this season.

Buha’s point on the likely lack of Irving trade interest from the Mavs makes sense though, as Dallas currently boasts a 9–3 record to start the new season.
