Dictionary Trolls Draymond Green Amid Indefinite Suspension
The internet had a field day Wednesday after it was announced that Warriors forward Draymond Green was handed an indefinite suspension for his latest ejection, and a surprise troll emerged from the fray: the dictionary.
It was first reported by ESPN and The Athletic that Green would need to meet certain criteria for him to return from suspension, and just minutes later, Merriam-Webster, the publishing company best known for its dictionaries, took its chance to poke fun at Green without even mentioning his name.
The publishing company’s X account (formerly Twitter) posted the definition of the word “indefinitely” with no other context.
Just three minutes later, the NBA released a statement confirming the reports of Green’s indefinite suspension. His long history of unsportsmanlike conduct played a role in the league’s decision.
The incident occurred on Tuesday against the Suns when Green appeared to blatantly hit Jusuf Nurkić. Green later said he was merely flailing his arms to sell the contact for the official and that the contact with Nurkić was not intentional. He was dealt a flagrant 2 foul and ejected.
