Lakers’ LeBron James Went Coach Mode on a Baffled Darvin Ham, and NBA Fans Went Wild

The Los Angeles Lakers found themselves in a position rarely seen this season, holding a big lead over the Portland Trail Blazers throughout much of Sunday night’s 134–110 victory. With just over six minutes remaining and the Lakers leading by 23, LeBron James appeared to decide he was ready to take a seat on the bench and grab some rest, so he went into full coach mode.

James opted to commit a foul to stop the action. Then he called a timeout and ultimately appeared to take himself out of the game. Meanwhile, Lakers coach Darvin Ham seemed to initially express confusion, followed by what looked like agreement.

James was indeed subbed out for Austin Reaves at that very timeout. But the future Hall of Famer seemingly making the decision for Ham sent the internet into a frenzy, and the comments didn’t disappoint.
