Wizards Fans Lustily Boo Jordan Poole, Who Fouled Out With Zero Points

Jordan Poole’s tenure as the Washington Wizards’ franchise player has gotten off to a rough start this season, and he may have hit rock bottom on Wednesday.

While playing against the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers, Poole took a step-back three-pointer with just under four minutes left in the fourth quarter and missed the contested jumper. And in a rare moment, the Wizards’ home crowd began to boo their star player. It was his fourth miss in as many shot attempts.

He would go on to foul out and finish the game scoreless after 25 minutes of action. He missed all five of his shots from the field and tallied two rebounds and five assists in the 114–106 loss.

The Wizards dropped to 9–41, solidifying their place as the second-worst team in the NBA. Only the Detroit Pistons (7–43) have a worse record.

Washington traded for Poole last summer and expected a game-changer after seeing what the 24-year-old did with the Golden State Warriors in recent years, including winning a championship in 2022. Instead, the Wizards are on pace for one of the worst seasons in their history.

Poole is averaging 15.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists on 40.4% shooting from the field this season.
