Heat to Add Delon Wright to Rotation After Wizards Buyout, per Report

Seeking to defend 2023’s surprise Eastern Conference title, the Miami Heat are reportedly adding a new cog to their machine.

The Heat are set to sign Washington Wizards guard Delon Wright after a contract buyout, according to a Friday afternoon report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Wright, 31, is averaging 4.1 points in 13.8 minutes per game for the Wizards this season.

Primarily known for his defensive prowess, Wright has finished in the top 10 in the league three times in steal percentage. Over the course of a nine-year career, the Utah product has spent time with the Toronto RaptorsMemphis GrizzliesDallas MavericksDetroit PistonsSacramento KingsAtlanta Hawks and Washington.

Miami is currently 30–25, seventh in the Eastern Conference and a half-game behind the Indiana Pacers in the race for the conference’s final guaranteed playoff spot.

The Heat are set to resume play on Feb. 23 against the New Orleans Pelicans after the All-Star break.
