76ers News: Cam Payne Reacts to Trade to Philly

Among the flurry of moves the Philadelphia 76ers made at the deadline was sending Patrick Beverley to the Milwaukee Bucks for Cam Payne. Following his debut, the veteran guard shared his thoughts on the change of scenery.

Due to having a limited roster, Nick Nurse rolled out Payne roughly 24 hours after the trade. He put together a solid outing against the Atlanta Hawks. Payne logged 35 minutes in the 127-121 loss and finished with a stat line of 20 points, three rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

After the game, Payne was asked about what this experience has been like. While he admitted it was an extremely fast turn around, he enjoyed being able to hit the floor right away with his new team.

"Shoutout to Pat Bev for getting that physical done so I could come out here and play with my new team, so shoutout to him. It was fun," Payne said. "It’s been kind of a whirlwind, got here super late last night. Met all the guys today. Learned some offense today, it was pretty cool though. It’s happened before so I’m kind of used to it, but man, shoutout to plan, I feel good, I’m cool."

Unfortunately for Payne, he'll have to continue adjusting to his new team on the fly. The Sixers are slated to be back in action Saturday, taking on the Washington Wizards. In the meantime, Payne is going to study film to try and better acclimate himself.

"A lot of film. I know tomorrow we are going to watch a lot of film. Find out more ways to be aggressive, more ways to get easier baskets, and figure out the defense," Payne continued. "I’m still learning, like I said, it’s my first day, so it was pretty cool for my first day here. I just want to keep getting better, keep learning the guys, keep learning the offense, keep learning the principles. Just ready to make this push."
