76ers News: Tyrese Maxey Posts Rare Stat Line in Matchup vs. Hawks

In this story:
After three days off, the Philadelphia 76ers were back in action Wednesday, taking on Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks. With Joel Embiid still out as he deals with a knee injury, Tyrese Maxey was tasked with leading the charge.
While the game went into overtime, it would still be an early exit for Maxey. He picked up his sixth foul on a questionable call defending Young early in the overtime period. Before this, he managed to make franchise history.
The Sixers rising star logged 43 minutes in the 139-132 loss to the Hawks. In that time, he finished with a stat line of 35 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and four steals. Maxey shot 12-for-29 from the field, including 4-for-11 from beyond the arc.
With this performance, Maxey became the youngest player in Sixers franchise history to record this box score.

Even though the Sixers didn't come out on top, Maxey proved he is capable of having a big game with Embiid on the sidelines. However, the Sixers still just have one win on the year when the reigning MVP is out.
For Maxey, this outing continues his breakout season as the No. 2 option to Embiid. His averages on the year currently sit at 26.2 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 6.7 APG. This heightened level of production has him in the conversation for an All-Star nomination along with the Most Improved Player award.
After battling one All-Star point in Young on Wednesday, Maxey and the Sixers will see another in their next matchup. They'll return home Friday to play host to De'Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings.
