The start of the season hasn't been too kind to the Brooklyn Nets, as the team who was rather formidable side last season, is currently struggling as they are stuck in at the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference.

Apart from a run of bad games, the Nets have also struggled with injuries this season, with Cam Thomas and Ben Simmons having spent some time on the bench, as well as the season ending injury of Dariq Whitehead.

Perhaps the summary of their struggles could be seen in the Nets' 50 point loss to the Boston Celtics right before All-Star break, thanks in part to Payton Pritchard and Derrick White combining for 55 points.

The Celtics' stars shot the lights out while the Nets struggled to shoot above 38 percent as a team, with Mikal Bridges, Cam Thomas, Dennis Schroder, and Nic Claxton failed to score more than 11 points.

Right at the end of the All-Star break, it was reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that Brooklyn had decided to part ways with head coach Jacque Vaughn.

Vaughn had stepped in for former Nets' head coach Steve Nash, when he was fired back in November 2022, ending his year and a half tenure with a record of 64-65.

The playoffs were never much of a bright spot for Brooklyn under Vaughn, having been eliminated in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers last season.

The Nets have yet to name their interim manager, but have stated that they will be named soon.

When do the Sixers play the Nets?

The season series opener between Brooklyn and Philadelphia took place earlier on in the year, with Vaughn's second to last win as head coach coming against the Sixers.

The second match between the two sides is set to take place on March 5, when the Sixers travel to the Barclays Center.
