Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant to Attend Washington Commanders Opener

In this story:
Philadelphia Eagles rival Washington Commanders will have a special guest in the building on Sunday as they are set to host the Arizona Cardinals for their season opener.
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is among several celebrities who are expected to be in attendance at the game.
Embiid’s presence in D.C. might not go over great with Sixers fans, but it’s not surprising he’s expected to attend, considering his team’s Managing Partner Josh Harris, recently took over Washington Commanders ownership.
For a few years, Harris looked to expand his sports investment portfolio by acquiring an NFL team. In 2020, he gained a minority stake in the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2022, Harris and an investment group reportedly looked to make an offer for the Denver Broncos to become majority owners of the team before eventually dropping out of the bidding war.
This year, Harris led a group that was set to purchase the Commanders from ex-owner, Daniel Snyder. The group that took over also includes notable investors, such as Magic Johnson and David Blitzer, who is Harris’s Co-Partner with the Sixers.
With the Commanders set to begin their first season under new ownership, Embiid and Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant will be there in support of Harris and the rest of the group, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
