Toronto Raptors Reveal RJ Barrett’s Playing Status vs. Sixers

In this story:
Recently, the Toronto Raptors revealed their veteran forward RJ Barrett would be away from the team as he tended to a family matter.
When the Raptors planned to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, there was a chance Barrett could make his return to action.
According to the Raptors’ initial injury report, Barrett was upgraded to questionable ahead of the outing. As the veteran is working on conditioning, there was a chance he could get the nod to play based on how he’s feeling during his pregame workouts.
The last time Barrett took the court for the Raptors was back on March 11. In a game against the Denver Nuggets, Barrett checked in for 38 minutes. During that time, he knocked down 50 percent of his shots to score 26 points. He also came down with seven rebounds, and produced nine assists on the offensive end.
For the last eight games, Barrett has been away from the game as he mourns the loss of his brother.
In the past, Barrett has faced the Sixers 13 times as a member of the New York Knicks. He averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in games against Philly.
When Barrett was included in a late December trade between the Knicks and the Raptors, he remained in the Atlantic Division, garnering a more prominent role on a younger Raptors squad.
Since landing with the Raptors, Barrett has appeared in 27 games. Spending an average of 34 minutes on the court, Barrett produced 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists per game. He’s been scoring with efficiency, knocking down field goals at a 55 percent clip, while draining 42 percent of his threes on four attempts per game.
While the Raptors left the door open for a potential return to action for Barrett on Sunday, he is officially ruled out for the matchup.
The Sixers and the Raptors will battle it out at 6 PM ET on Sunday.
