Chicago Bulls wingman Zach LaVine has been in the league for nine years, so he knows all about the business that is the NBA. And if ever he needed another reminder of how cutthroat the league can be to any player—regardless of stature—he got it last month when superstar Chris Paul got traded twice and ended up with the Golden State Warriors.

Figuring it out

The two-time All-Star recently shared his thoughts about the trade during a conversation with Warriors insider Monte Poole at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament. As ridiculous as the trade was, he said it's commonplace in a league where anything can happen at any given time.

"The NBA's ridiculous, man," LaVine said. "It's such a unique thing where anything can happen at any time -- it doesn't matter if you're a role player or a guy trying to make the NBA, or a future Hall of Famer, top-five point guard like Chris Paul."

As terrific a player as CP3 is, there are legitimate questions surrounding his fit with the Warriors, given the presence of another soon-to-be Hall of Fame point guard in Stephen Curry. LaVine, though, shrugged the notion, saying CP3, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson are all players with high basketball IQs and, most importantly, all share the burning desire to win.

"Yeah, high-level, high-IQ guys," LaVine said. "They're going to figure it out, especially with how much of a threat Steph is off the ball with his movement, how Klay spaces the floor. CP can just be the floor operator. I can foresee those two-, three-guard lineups."

Bulls also have some figuring out to do

The Bulls have a lot of figuring out to do as well. Rather than making wholesale changes that many fans and experts have advocated for, the Bulls' decision-makers opted to bring back many of the same players from last season, pushing the "continuity" mantra of the team's vice president, Arturas Karnisovas.

The extent of the Bulls' improvement is yet to be determined. However, the additions of Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig are expected to address several shortcomings from last season, particularly the lack of three-point shooting.
